The Detroit Land Bank Authority Buy Back program helps residents of Detroit Land Bank Authority-owned homes lost to tax foreclosure become homeowners. Participants must complete a home inspection, attend financial and home preservation courses through non-profits, pay $1,000 for the home, and save $1,800 over a year for taxes. After finishing four workshops on money management, foreclosure prevention, and debt reduction, they receive their deed. The Detroit Land Bank Authority has rehabilitated over 12,000 homes and converted more than 30,000 vacant lots for community use, as stated by the City of Detroit.
