Journey to Homeownership

Explore the resources below as you embark on your journey to homeownership

The home buying process is different for everyone, but this road map can help you get started.

Before you can start shopping, you need to know what your budget looks like. Schedule an appointment to talk to a lender about their mortgage products or to be preapproved for a mortgage. Rehabbed & Ready accepts mortgages from all lenders—choose the lender you prefer.

Loan Officers

Not sure where to start? These financial institutions have financed the most Rehabbed & Ready sales. Remember, purchasers are not required to use a specific loan product to purchase Rehabbed & Ready properties; the Rehabbed & Ready team accepts conventional, FHA, VA loans and cash offers.

All potential purchasers are encouraged to take advantage of the City of Detroit’s Financial Empowerment Center.

Financial Empowerment Center

The City of Detroit’s Financial Empowerment Center provides free, one-on-one coaching with a professional financial counselor.

Taking a homebuyer’s education course will introduce you to real estate vocabulary, help you connect with resources, and teach you about the process of shopping for and closing on a house.

A buyer’s agent will help you in your search for houses and help you navigate the process of submitting an offer and closing on a home.

Once an offer is received, the Rehabbed & Ready team will set an offer deadline. If your offer is selected, the Rehabbed & Ready team will get in touch with your agent.

While each lender has their own process, the typical purchase process takes about 45 days after the acceptance of an offer.
